Jessica Montoya started her dance journey in Orlando, Florida, exploring ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap. Upon moving to Philadelphia at age 10, she realized that her true passion was for ballet. She studied intensively at The Pennsylvania Dance Institute, and after apprenticing, at age 14 she joined their regional dance company Dance Del Bello. During her time with the company, she performed soloist and principal roles in full length classical ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Cinderella. She spent her summers training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and The Rock school for Dance at Philadelphia Ballet.
She attended Marymount Manhattan College in NY, training under Katie Langan and Finis Jhung. She joined the company in her first year, performing and touring the tri-state area. In addition to her concentration of ballet, she had daily classes at the Martha Graham School, as well as studying Limon, Horton and Nikolais/Louis. During her time living in NYC, she explored acting opportunities as well as visual arts. This led to her creating seasonal window displays all over Brooklyn.
Ultimately, her love and passion for ballet led her to American Ballet Theatre, where she completed their National Training Curriculum under the authors and creators of the program Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens. She is an ABT certified teacher.
