2022 Summer Dance Camps
Who is this for?
CCD offers Summer Camps for those in Primary 1 through Intermediate 3. All new summer students can call to request a free trial placement class. All current CCD students will remain in their current Division through the summer of 2022. CCD Summer Camps run through June & July 2022. Current families can register by calling the front desk at 303.466.5685. Registration begins January 3, 2022.
Creativity and growth for 3 & 4 year olds
In this delightful summer adaptation of our Children’s Ballet program, young students will explore the elements of a beloved story through movement.
In the first 45 minutes of class, the dancers will experience a ballet class of the highest quality – learning correct ballet terminology and technique specifically designed to target young, curious minds. Utilizing imagery and creative exploration, these young dancers will learn about musicality, space/time/energy, and performative qualities.
In the last 15 minutes, teachers will break down the elements of a story. They will learn about the characters, the setting, the plot, the conflict, and the resolution. From this exploration, the class will create a dance which will be performed for family and friends at the conclusion of the 6 week session.
StoryTime Ballet is a 6 week program and runs June 20–July 30, 2022. Space is limited – enroll today!

“Charlie has grown leaps and bounds since he started dancing at CCD. He’s built friendships, learned respect and discipline from his teachers, and, of course, he’s grown as a dancer. He regularly talks about how much fun it is to be at CCD and how the teachers make learning dance fun. When I just asked him what the best thing about being at CCD is, he said: “Dancing with my friends and being with the best teachers ever!”
– Karen M.
Creativity and growth for 5-8 year olds.
For current CCD students: Student’s summer level is the same as their current school year.
Whether they are new to dance or have danced for several years, this summer program is perfect for boys and girls ages 5-8.
The day will begin with a ballet class suited to your dancer’s skill level:
- In Primary 1 & 2, your student will develop musical awareness, rhythm, and coordination through the fundamentals of ballet, creative movement, acting, and games.
- In Primary 3, students will continue to build on their knowledge of ballet’s fundamentals and learn more complex movements at the barre and across the floor.
The second class of the day will be either Musical Theater or Character Dance:
- In Musical Theater, the dancers will learn the basics of singing and acting, while syncing those new skills with complex dance steps. They will learn a routine to an excerpt from a kid-friendly, family-favorite Broadway musical.
- In Character Dance, students will learn the basics of balletic folk dancing (plus a little bit of history of both character dance and ballet). WARNING: This class is so fun, they’ll be twirling, toe-heel-cross-heeling, and stamping through the house for the next several months.
The final class of the day is our famous Primary Ballet Class. Students will take a deep dive on a famous classical fairytale ballet, studying the origins of the story, the history, about the choreographer and composer, and about how it came to the stage. They will watch an internationally-acclaimed version of the ballet, studying the dancers, costumes, and stagecraft. The teacher will then work with the students to bring a modified version of the ballet to life, culminating with an in-studio performance for families and friends on the final day of the program.
Each camp day will include 15-minute snack break. Please bring a healthy well labeled snack with your child each day.
Primary Ballet Camp will run the weeks of June 20-25; July 4-9; July 18-23

For current CCD students: Student’s summer level is the same as their current school year.
Those new to CCD: Please fill complete our Class Assessment Form for placement for the summer of 2022.
Intermediate 1 Summer Camp Classes:
Ballet Technique: Students in Intermediate 1 will build their skills through an emphasis on proper alignment and awareness of the placement of the head and arms, along with more complex movements of the feet and legs. Students will also learn ballet terminology and basic anatomy.
Ballet Technique Intensive: This specialized class allows the teacher to focus on coaching the dancers through the minute details of the one specific area of their technique. Based on the prior class, the faculty member may, for instance, decide to focus on the articulation of the feet, the operation of the shoulders, movement of the head, spotting, or perhaps landing properly from a jump. Our summer dancers improve enormously through this details process!
In addition to Ballet and Ballet Technique Intensive, classes may include Character, Hip Hop, Ballroom and Musical Theater.
Character Dance: In Character Dance, students will learn the basics of balletic folk dancing (plus a little bit of history of both character dance and ballet). WARNING: This class is so fun they’ll be twirling, toe-heel-cross-heeling, and stamping through the house for the next several months.
Hip Hop: This high energy class focuses on the introduction of fundamental elements of Hip Hop, which encompass many styles of street dancing including breaking, locking and popping. This class will also focus on developing rhythm and coordination
Ballroom: This fun-filled class will introduce several styles of ballroom dance including the Foxtrot, Waltz, Cha-cha, and Charleston, with a focus on footwork, coordination and rhythm.
Musical Theater: In this class, dancers will be introduced to the songs of Broadway musicals and choreography. Combining basic skills of singing and acting with complex dance steps, dancers will learn an excerpt from a kid-friendly, family-favorite Broadway musical.
Jazz Technique: Our jazz technique syllabus aims to guide our dancers from the historic vernacular roots through the performative styles of Fosee and Luigi to current forms underpinning much of popular dance. Jazz holds strong focus on performativity, personality, musicality, rhythm, and power. We encourage our dancers to become generalists in Jazz technique with a historic understanding of the past and future of the art form.
Each camp day will include a 15-minute snack break. Please send a nutritious snack with your dancer (and please make sure it’s well labeled).
