Brooke Howton

Born and raised in Colorado, Brooke Howton (she/they), began her dance career at her local Recreational Center in Commerce City before she went on to train with Colorado Conservatory of Dance. She went on to attend Hollins University where she graduated with departmental honors in Dance. While there, she was a part of the Hollins Repertory Dance Company board, where she performed and taught for her peers. In 2022, she had the opportunity to collaborate with writers Mattie Tindall, Hannah Chaikin, and movement coordinator Chloe Riederich to personify the role of “Death” in the play, The Picture of Dorian Gray (2023). Also, at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC, she was able to perform an excerpt of José Limón’s Choreographic Offering under the instruction of former Limón Dance Company Principal, Brenna Monroe-Cook. She whole-heartedly believes that art is what makes people feel connected through commonalities and relations which contributes to its importance. She is a proud citizen of the Muscogee Nation as well as of Scots-Irish and Norwegian descent. When not dancing, she loves making cool coffee drinks, beading, and playing with her dog, Harley, and cat, Kokuran.
